Second Batch of Letters

One wanders whether Bruce Fein writes these poison letters with his clothes on........

by Charles.S.perera

I am surprised that an Attorney from USA could stoop so low to write poison letters about a country and a people he does not seem to know any thing about. It is normal that an attorney produces before a court of law evidence that is reliable and verifiable for a cause he has taken upon himself to defend.

But to write a poison letter on facts that he had not verified, or going on facts prompted by interested parties which are not verified for their correctness is not quite in conformity with legal ethics , nor could these vilifications be held in his favour as a person who has any moral code. He has written a vulgar deformed poison letter with the intention of bringing in to disrepute a people , its sacred belief system, its culture and its history.

Bruce should know that in defending an accused, he should understand his psychological make up, and the voracity of his statements and defend him on true facts, accepting his crime if he was the author of any and plead for clemency. If the accused is a criminal, the defence lawyer cannot cover up his criminality, and accuse the prosecutors on facts he has collected from the mouth of the criminal he defends. That is contrary to legal procedures.

What Bruce Fein says as conclusive evidence is nothing but a lot of harangue he had been fed with. He repeats them like a parrot, without knowing the truth of one word of what he had said.
The worst about the man Fein is how he dares compare Sinhala Buddhists to Hitlerian Criminals, which he cannot do wearing his clothes on like a decent man. His words reflects his utter nakedness without any moral, or sense of shame, writing a poison letter for the sake of a few dollars.

In to the street we live a drunken beggar comes round singing senseless vulgar songs. He is neither ashamed to use those vulgar words, nor does he care much for the meaning of them, he just wants to collect a few coins, from those who sympathise or those who want to get rid of him, to buy his bottle of cheap wine. I find Bruce Fein, no different to the shameless drunken beggar, with his meaningless vulgar ranting about Sinhala Buddhists, their philosophy, Mahavamsa, Dharmapala and genocide.

It is a waste of time explaining to Bruce Fein, what is Buddhism, what is genocide, what is Mahavamsa and who is Dharmapala. It would be, "throwing pearls before a swine ". Neither is it worth writing for his information that more than 50 percent of the Tamil population is living among the Sinhala. And, that, the Tamils living with the Sinhala do not find the Sinhala Buddhists with whom they live, supremacists, or racists.

It is the pro terrorist Tamil diaspora, who has communal interests without a sense of patriotism towards their multiethnic motherland that show racist tendencies. It is they who have fed him with distorted information about the Sinhala Buddhist, and Genocide. It is no use writing to inform Fein, that the Government Forces are not fighting a war against the Tamils, but is battling against the terrorists, to save the Tamils kept by the terrorists to serve them as a human shield, and free the territory controlled by the terrorists.

It would also not be within his distorted comprehension, that lorry loads of food and Medicine are being sent every week in collaboration with the UN Office in Sri Lanka to the terrorist controlled areas to feed not only the civil Tamil population but also the terrorists.
It is a waste of time to make any form of reply to this disgusting USA Attorney Bruce Fein, who is only a paid poison letter writer for the pro-terrorist Tamil Diaspora. - Sri Lanka Guardian
What should take priority, National Interests or Communal Interests ?

"That is not very encouraging to the National Politics of India. It is collectively united India that has developed and progressed into being a developed Nation in Asia. There is no problem of racism with the Tamil people in Sri Lanka

by Charles.S.Perera

(November 04, 2008

There is no problem of racism with the Tamil people in Sri Lanka. If communal sentiments are whipped up it is for political interest by politicians. The Notable Politicians with a penchant for stirring communal sentiments among the Tamils in Sri Lanka are Mano Ganeshan , Chandrasekaran, and the TNA Parliamentarians, with their own terrorist agenda. But to what an extent, and where exactly have their communal pot shots worked is difficult to say. The first two have pro terrorist leaning, therefore they seek allegiance with the Tamils of the Tamil Nadu.

We could count upon Ananda Sangaree and Douglas Devananda to have national interests, beyond their communal appurtenance, and therefore, as patriots of Sri Lanka. A larger sector of the Tamil population prefer to keep ,their sentiments to themselves, rather than make a public show of it. The Tamils of professional sector in Tamil Nadu, have by their utterances and participation showed that they give priority to Communal Interest rather than National Interest. Those who give priority to Communal interest over National interest, are not patriots of their multi-ethnic motherland.

That is not very encouraging to the National Politics of India. It is collectively united India that has developed and progressed into being a developed Nation in Asia. If the Tamil Nadu initiates a break up of Indian Unity, India as well as Tamil Nadu, will go back to being a petty under developed banana States !

South India, cannot depend wholly on the Tamil diaspora to fall into the category of a developed nation. India's political, economic and social leadership depends in its strength acquired through Unity of all its 28 States. Tamil diaspora despite the knowledge that the difficulties of "colour", will keep them strangers for ever in their adopted countries, show Communal Interest, rather than National interest towards their original motherlands.

India despite being a country with a fast developing economy, is still not free of poverty, illiteracy and malnutrition. Many of the States are rich in minerals , agriculture etc. Tamil Nadu is one of these states. It is not only Tamil Nadu that could break away to form an Independent State. If all the other 27 states give priority to their communal interests like Tamil Nadu and break away, neither India, nor the break away States will benefit from such an eventuality. India's economic development and its place as a leader Nation in Asia comes from the fact of its Unity.

But if the Communal Interest of Tamil Nadu were to over Shadow the National Interests, India is bound to collapse like a pack of cards , as other States may also take the plunge along with Tamil Nadu, to form their own Independent States. The Communal sentiments is dangerous as it could have disastrous results in a multi ethnic society. That is why it is better the States that form a Union, like in India should stay together without giving into Communal Interests.

There are many Countries in Asia that is made up of several communities, such as Malasia, and Singapore, but they have not still been attacked by the virus of "ethnic problem". Therefore, they have made significant social and economic achievements and stand as examples among developing nations.

Where ever the Communal Interest has risen above National interest, there is hindrance to development, and progress is retarded by communal dissention. In the developed west, communal questions have taken the back seats, in preference to National interests.

France does not interfere into Canada to show its solidarity with the French Canadians. Nor is Italy interfering to defend Corse for their distant connection to Corsicans.
So why should Tamil Nadu interfere into Sri Lanka on the question of Tamils which is a problem of Sri Lanka.

Tamil Nadu has to put the National interest first and stop its interference into the Affairs of Sri Lanka without causing embarrassment to India. For any citizen of a country, it is important to be concerned about the National interest. That is to be patriotic. Karunanidhi, Vaiko, Nedumaran, and others of Tamil Nadu in giving priority to communal interest is not being patriotic as Indian Nationals.

The Politicians of Tamil Nadu have to leave aside their interest in the Tamils of Sri Lanka, and stand by the Central Government of India without making it difficult for India, as a leader Nation of Asia. Tamil Nadu should allow India as a Democratic leader State of Asia, to contact Sri Lanka through its diplomatic channels, to settle the terrorist problem in an appropriate manner as it should be ,between two sovereign states.

Politicians like Vaiko, Karunanidhi, and Nedumaran, are not matured politicians. They do not understand the interplay of international politics, and democratic means to be applied in cases of problems between two sovereign states.

They should give up their narrow minded "celluloid star" mentality an mature into real patriotic politicians of India. They should look after the interest of the people of Tamil Nadu who elected them into power rather than interfere into the affairs of Sri Lanka a neighbouring sovereign state.

Beware, the terrorists may use their air crafts to attack residences of VIPs.

by Charles.S.Perera

In Order to stop any further attacks by the terrorist aircrafts, Sri Lanka's defence system has to be readjusted. If the Indian radar system had been defective, or if the system had been operated by Indian technicians an over roll investigation should be carried out , if necessary to set up a new radar system, probably the system that had been proposed by China.

The air defence system should be handed over to a separate army unit under a reliable Military Officer. The defence system had failed seven times allowing the terrorist aircrafts access into the Sri Lanka Air Space, undetected. The government should not depend on the pending investigations to find out what went wrong, as it would be a waste of time. Alternative methods of defence should be installed without delay.

More daring attacks will be carried out by the terrorists both by air and ground to destabilise the Government and the Military Forces. Therefore, the Government should stop its lethargic attitude of , accepting the fact of the terrorists attacks , and minimising their effects issuing reports for public consumption, that the bombs the terrorists air force had used could not have caused serious damage, or the damage caused is not significant.

Each of the seven terrorists air attacks had their effect however much the military and the government are attempting to down play the effects of those air attacks. Each one of them took a toll of life, and material loss.

Those who were responsible should be taken to task , and replaced by more reliable personnel.

The Government Forces should take into account the fact of the number of soldiers dying in the war front, fighting under most difficult circumstances. The least that those in charge of the security , is to protect military installations, military camps, and war material , such as planes, helicopters etc. There was a report in the Sri Lanka Guardian about damages to certain army air crafts by the terrorist air attacks !

The Government and the Military authorities should look into the defence system of the Air Space. They should perhaps install a series of anti aircraft guns covering the air space likely to be entered into by the air crafts of the terrorists. These guns should be manned relentlessly and continuous vigil should be kept day and nigh twenty for ours of the day. No excuse should be made for any future lapses by these defenders of the air space, for allowing the terrorists air crafts penetrating in to it. They should be court marshalled and highest punishment should be meted out to them.

This is important as the suicide bombs have little chance of blowing up VIP's as the Security Forces seem to have a fairly good control over suicide "bombers". There may also be a shortage of suicide bombers, if the attacks by government forces had eliminated a good number of them along with their places of training.

It is possible that the terrorists may in future use air attacks to cause major human disasters, and drop bombs on residences of VIPs. -

They have done it again ? Commander of the Air Force is answerable.

When the Anuradhapura Army camp was bombed by the terrorists air crafts, it was first put to the failure of the Indian Radar System to have spotted the air crafts. But when the Air Forces Commander Roshan Goonetilleke was asked whether the Indian Radar System had spotted the two terrorists air crafts, he had replied that it worked well. Then whose fault was it that the Army Camp was attacked , caused the death of 20 LTTE terrorists and 12 personnel of the Security forces, and allowed the aircrafts to fly back safely to terrorist territory after bombardments?

In a subsequent attack, when the Minister of Information Anura P.Yapa insisted that there was no Indian Radar system failure to spot the terrorists air crafts, a security personnel who did not want to be identified had said that the Indian Radar System had failed to spot the terrorists air crafts. If the Radar System had spotted the terrorists air crafts as the Minister Yapa had insisted, why no prompt action was taken to attack the air crafts. Who was at fault ?

Again in another attack, (there were seven of them) in May 2007, there was the question whether the Indian Radar system had failed to function , the Indian authorities who provided the Radar system said that the system functioned well and if it did not work well, it was an operational problem and not a system problem.

When in another terrorists attack by the terrorists using their aircraft, it was said that an Indian Technician who was in charge of the operation of the system was wounded.

Indian Radar System was acquired on a recommendation made by a previous Indian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, when negotiation were being made to by a more modern 3D radar detecting system was to be purchased from China.

Each time these tin planes of the terrorists carried out a successful attack the Radar System had worked well, but the damage had been done by the terrorists planes, gone back safely to where they had come from, while the Security Forces had failed to take any action and give flimsy excuses for their failure.

These tin planes may perhaps be coming from a costal airstrip in Tamil Nadu. But the sad thing about it, is that the terrorists with their meagre possessions are capable of causing damage to men and material, and our now sophisticated Air Force cannot stop them.

There is some thing sinister and serious going on. The investigations after each of these attacks fizzle out, without no one being informed of the out come of these investigations. The people have a right to know what is going on.

Why had the Minister of Information after one of these attacks had insisted that the Radar system worked well, when there was evidence that it had not ? Then again why had the Air Force Commander Roshan Goonetilleke, insisted that the Indian Radar System worked well, but did not say why he had failed to follow up with counter measures ?

There are so many unanswered questions. This does not seem to be the end there will be some more attacks and they are all going to be successful. The question is what are going to be the next targets of these terrorists flying machines ? Some body out side Killinochchi seems to be aware ? The President, and the Defence Secretary in the Absence of the Army Commander Sarath Fonseka should take immediate action to avert a greater disaster that is being planned some where, by some one.

To begin with the Indian technicians who are manning the Radar System should be withdrawn. Then the Indian Radar System should be dismantled, and negotiations should be made for the immediate purchase and installation of the Chinese 3D Radar System. Information Minister Anura P.Yapa should be questioned as to why if he knew that the Indian Radar System had spotted the terrorist Air Crafts, he did not investigate the reasons for the failure to take immediate action to attack the terrorists air crafts.

The Air Force Commander who was responsible for the detection of enemy air crafts entering into the Sri Lanka air space, seems to have failed in his duty to take protective measures, therefore he should be immediately replaced by another . His neglect has caused many lives, apart from the cost of the material destroyed in those attacks. - Sri Lanka Guardian

India's paradigm of Virtue

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

L.Ganesan, the President of the Tamil Nadu State BJP Unit, says that India has a moral right and responsibility to intervene in Sri Lanka Tamils issue and should not be a silent spectator to the sufferings ,of the civilian Tamils in the Island.

Those are very generous words, but coming from India it is our duty to ask Mr. Ganesan whether he thinks , that India has a greater moral right and responsibility to intervene in an issue that is an internal matter of a neighbouring sovereign state, than looking after its own responsibilities towards those who are suffering in its own midst. India is not a repository of high virtue.

Before, specifying the neglect of India's moral right and responsibilities towards certain categories of people entrenched in its own society, let us see more clearly the situation in Sri Lanka. If Mr. Ganesan thinks that India has a moral right and responsibility to intervene in Sri Lanka Tamils issue, India has an equal moral right and responsibility to intervene in Sri Lanka with regard to the Sinhala, and Muslim issue as well. Because, the Tamil, Sinhala and Muslim communities have been dragged into fear and suffering, through a group of terrorists who were lodged and trained in Indian soil, and whose roots are in the Tamil Community.

In Sri Lanka, Tamils, Muslims and Sinhala make up the Sri Lankan Nation. The Tamils are not treated differently from the Muslims or the Sinhala. Sri Lanka has its own problems with regard to its "family" of the three main Communities; but the government will attend to those problems in an order of priority. Just now the priority is to end terrorism in all its facets, and after that the government will attend to other matters, in a more calm and a peaceful atmosphere.

In a recent interview to Mr.N.Ram of Hindu, appearing in the Sri Lanka Guardian Website on 29 October, 2008, The President of Sri Lanka explains clearly the position with regard to the terrorist issue in Sri Lanka. It would educate Mr. Ganeshan, on the situation of Sri Lanka , of which Mr.Ganesan seems to have only a distorted view. He should remove his glasses of prejudice and read that interview.

In Sri Lanka there is no caste problem, as in India, and no community in Sri Lanka suffer from an inhuman rejection pathology. There are not many inter marriages among the three main communities , but still there are mixed marriages between the Sinhala and Tamil, and Sinhala and Muslims. There is no great taboo between the communities in their social interaction.
Sri Lanka has unfortunately the terrorist menace that has more or less damaged the social fabric. Nevertheless, Sri Lanka is quite capable of sorting out things, and take necessary steps to improve relations between Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala. Main problem the government is faced with just now is on an " ethnic problem", which has still not been defined. Different people have different definitions of it. Once the principle problem with the terrorists is overcome, the government will be able to come to an understanding to solve these problems without leaving any after effects.

For that Sri Lanka needs a little time, and rid itself of those who have a habit of interfering more for their own benefit, without even understanding the real problem at issue in Sri Lanka. This has caused the government difficulties in getting rid of the main problem in hand , without undue delay, to give its full attention to those secondary issues.

Now Mr. Ganeshan, should see for himself the problems India has in its midst., to which the Government of India (along with the Tamil Nadu political leaders) has a greater moral right and responsibility to attend to, without wasting its time interfering into the affairs of Sri Lanka, which has a government which is quite mature and able to settle its problems on its own.

In English Jurisprudence there are a number of maxims of equity. One of them is that "He Who Comes into Equity must come with Clean Hands". It is easy to denounce others for their actions, errors and omissions, but in doing so one fails to look around to see whether one is "morally clean and responsible" where one's own moral rights and responsibilities towards others are concerned. If one is guilty of wrong doings, errors and omission towards one's own people, then in "equity" those persons have no right to make accusations against others for their lapses.

India falls into the category of one coming to equity with "unclean hands". Because India has number of unsolved problems, in addition to the problems created by Tamil Nadu, which the Indian central government may not have expect. There is the pending Kashmir problem, and in addition to that nothing is still settled with the Akali Dal. India does not want to cultivate good neighbourly relations with the countries in its proximity. We see it with Pakistand, and Sri Lanka in its neighbourhood. The problems India is creating to Sri Lanka is part of this un-neighbourly attitude of India. India also has problems with the Tribal Communities in the areas bordering Assam .

But the worst of all is that which stinks to high heavens. It is India's inability to solve the problem of the untouchables. India's emergence into being a modern state, which has even advanced into the conquest of space, shamelessly carries with it the stigma of caste prejudice against the dalit population.

India has a moral right and a responsibility to intervene on the untouchable issue which is still a great problem in the rural India, where the untouchables are treated inhumanly for the reason of having been born into that caste. Tamil Nadu which threaten the Central Government of India with drastic measures if it does not intervene to save the terrorists in Sri Lanka, does nothing to demand that the dalit population be treated as any other Indian. India has a moral right and responsibility to intervene to stop the harassment meted out to the dalits.

Following is an extract from an article,

"India's "Untouchables Face Violence,Discrimination"

By Hillary Mayell, for National Geographic News

";;More than 160 million people in India are considered "Untouchable"—people tainted by their birth into a caste system that deems them impure, less than human.

Human rights abuses against these people, known as Dalits, are legion. A random sampling of headlines in mainstream Indian newspapers tells their story: "Dalit boy beaten to death for plucking flowers"; "Dalit tortured by cops for three days"; "Dalit 'witch' paraded naked in Bihar";
"Dalit killed in lock-up at Kurnool"; "7 Dalits burnt alive in caste clash"; "5 Dalits lynched in Haryana"; "Dalit woman gang-raped, paraded naked"; "Police egged on mob to lynch Dalits". ….." (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/06/0602_030602_untouchables.html)
India intervenes to save a handful of ruthless terrorists, in Sri Lanka, leaving aside its own innocent Dalit population, who are being subjected to utmost cruelty and made to live in subhuman conditions.

India is sadly mixing up its priorities -

Tamil Nadu should not be an obstacle to India's emergence as a world leader ?

Monday, October 27, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

It was a sad day for India when political manoeuvres started by Jinnah resulted in its territorial breakup in 1947. However India despite this unforeseen loss to its great national loss, went through difficult times sacrificing its national leaders, suffering economic hardship to keep together what remained after Jinnah broke away a part of it. Different leaders with different visions kept the Indian dream alive. In that background the present day Indian leaders have been working hard to make the Indian dream a reality.

Today, India has shed its drab cloaks of poverty and sufferance, to emerge into being on the road towards economic leadership in Asia. Its power still lies in its territorial unity. If there is another break away, India will fall into a bitter internal political struggle which will weaken the International role it is about to play.

India lost a part of her great dream , as she was about to win her hard fought Independence, when Jinnah decided to break rank, more for personal gain, rather than through any religious faith, depriving I India the pride of being the whole of Indian empire , which was a British colony, that became independent.

To-day when India has come out victorious through its socio-economic struggle, to stand before the portals of International politics, to play a greater role as a rich and a powerful leader of Asia, on equal terms with the high and mighty International Community, Karunanidhi of DMK, flaps his wings to imitates Jinnah in an attempt to create an Eelam for the Tamils. These are the political tactics of an uninformed politician , both physically and mentally feeble. It was so when Jinnah decided to turn its back to his friends in the independence struggle, he died 13 months after declaring the separate Nation of Pakistan.

Unlike Jinnah, a son of a rich merchant , who was not from the people like the other political leaders of the Indian Congress who spear headed the Independent movement, Karunanidhi, had humble beginnings, having immigrated from AP. His well known poetic work for his favourite terrorist Thamilselvan, was the end product of his early training as a film script writer, and early writing of stories based on history and social reforms.

He has a record for winning elections, and popular for his wit and oratory. He was a Tamil literary figure.

His connection to LTTE terrorists has a long history. "Interim report of Justice Jain Commission which over saw the investigation into Rajiv Gandhi's assassination indicted Karunanidhi for abetting the LTTE. The interim report, recommended that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and the DMK party be held responsible for abetting Rajiv Gandhi's murderers." However, these allegations had been left out in the final report.

These South Indian political leaders had their beginnings in the South Indian Film Industry. Most of these film extravaganzas were about gods and humans, the good and the bad, to thrill the spectators that thronged into film halls. That may be why even their political manifestations , ring back to South Indian films that catered to popular taste.

These politicians unfortunately still think they are acting in their "Cinemas" and play to please the "gallery" without understanding the political implication of "modern" India, which has risen to be a powerful Nation, which now competes with the rich nations of the world, in all fields of activity such as in the Finances, Sciences, technology, and even atomic energy.

But the Karunanidhis of Tamil Nadu cannot understand these political configurations, and blinded by petty racial interests, is trying to betray the country by supporting a terrorist group.

The stakes at the portal of India are greater, and therefore it should maintain its internally undisturbed unitary state, to play its role as one of the leader nations of the world. That would be a pride for all States that make up India. Therefore, the uninformed, politicians of the DMK with their coteries of Film Directors, Poets and racial inspired groups, should be more concerned with India's own position , without getting interested in affairs of neighbouring sovereign states.

India as one of the emerging leader Nation, has to keep within certain norms of political behaviour to win the respect of the world. It cannot attack a neighbouring sovereign state like Sri Lanka at the behest of Tamil Nadu to protect a community that has only a nominal relation to Tamil Nadu.

Tamils of Sri Lanka are a part and parcel of the Nation of Sri Lanka. The matters regarding the Sri Lanka Tamils is a matter that should be left for Sri Lanka to solve without making difficulties for the Government of Sri Lanka. The role of India as one of the Leading Nations in Asia, is to maintain peace in the region and help its neighbours to fight terrorism which India , speaking at world Forums, has sworn to do

India should therefore, without relying on the nondescript politicians to work for national unity, make it the policy of the Central Government to inform the masses of the importance of India remaining united, for it to play a bigger role in International Politics.

It should keep the masses of the progressive development of India in different fields of activity, and arouse a National pride. They should get away from their narrow racial and local interests to see India as a leader and cooperate with neighbouring nations , not as rivals or antagonists but as friends. -

Has Robert O'Blake, joined Norway for rabble rousing, against Sri Lanka in Tamil Nadu ?

Sunday, October 26, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

Robert O'Blake posted as the Ambassador of USA in Sri Lanka, has no diplomatic right to make adverse remarks on the Government of Sri Lanka in Tamil Nadu. In doing so he is abusing his diplomatic representation in Sri Lanka to rouse Tamil Nadu against Sri Lanka. He is either frightened to speak the truth in Madras or he is seeking cheap popularity as an American, or he is doing it deliberately to serve another "agenda".

Blake had been interfering too often into the Affairs of Sri Lanka, and this statement he made at the University of Madras, in India is definitely not called for. I hope the Government of Sri Lanka will at least warn him against making further remarks on the political situation in Sri Lanka.

His statement, that he rejects the view of President Mahinda Rajapakse of going for a political solution after defeating the LTTE militarily, is obviously to bring the audience on to his side, but in doing so he has breached a diplomatic etiquette. His serving in Sri Lanka as a diplomat for a fairly long time does not give him any in sight into the political thinking of the political leaders of Sri Lanka. Bush Administration he represents in Sri Lanka, has messed up lot of things in the USA. Therefore, Blake that represents Bush Administration has no lesson to give to Sri Lanka.

In a country that is still not free from cowardly terrorist assassinations, and murders all over Sri Lanka, the government cannot possibly ask the perpetrators of these crimes to come to negotiate for a political settlement. It is like asking USA to invite Bin Laden to be present as the Chief Guest at a Ceremony to Remember the Victims of September 11, twin tower massacre. It would be more appropriate for O'Blake, to leave out talking about Sri Lanka's terrorist problem, in Sri Lanka or outside.

USA did pretty much of talking through out the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka, and did nothing practical to stop the massacres. O'Blakes presence in Madras just now is questionable, special when it has been said that Norwegians are financially supporting the Tamil Nadu Politicians to make mass manifestations against the Government of Sri Lanka. Norwegians having had failed in their mission to help the Sri Lanka terrorist to set up their Eelam State seem to be active in Tamil Nadu.

Norway which failed in peace mission every where they tried to intervene, are trying to create a break away movements in India. Unless India moves into quell the situation in Tamil Nadu, it will soon have a situation similar to Sri Lanka.

The Government Forces in Sri Lanka is successfully carrying out defensive military action against terrorism, which American Bush Administration failed to do in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Blake is trying to cover up American failure by trying to give uncalled for advise to Sri Lanka.

Any political solution has to come after the war against terrorism in Sri Lanka. We see the difficulty in trying to organise the east on democratic principles, due to infiltration of the terrorists in to east, and the difficulty of the people to adopt themselves to democracy. The politicians are still not settled and peace and calm which is much necessary for accepting democratic formula in war torn areas. Democracy has still not found a fertile situation in the east just out of terrorism.

APRC cannot come with workable political solutions in to a country which is still in the throes of terrorism. One problem has to be solved, before finding solution to the other. Otherwise nothing will be done well. Therefore, the foreigners in Sri Lanka should leave political solution to the problems of the country in the hands of the Sri Lanka politicians, and mind their own business for which they have been posted here.

To Bless the Soldiers the Temple Bells should toll for a minute every day until Kilinochchi is taken.

Thursday, October 23, 2008

by Charles.S. Perera

Our soldiers are at the front gate of the « tiger den » in Kilinochchi, for a battle they have to win, and for which no one knows how many lives have to be sacrificed. It would be most appropriate, to bless our soldiers when they face the dangers of a battle , to keep this motherland- sanctified by five visits of the Buddha, from being desecrated by a group of ruthless terrorists.

I implore the JHU and the Buddhist Associations to explore the possibility of holding "Bodhi Puja" in all Buddhist temples in the Island on a selected day , at a selected time, to bless our heroes the Soldiers, who are risking their lives, in rain and sun shine , without a moment to relax, and perhaps without even a proper meal a day. They are facing the most cruel "yakshas" whose blood thirst never seem to end.

We must make the Soldiers know, that we have not forgotten them in these moments of danger, where the risk is too great. We should do some thing to make them know that they are with us in our thoughts, and that we pray for their success and safety.

Please arrange to have the temple bells in all Temples to toll for one or two minutes every day at a selected time, until Kilinochchi is taken from the terrorist control and the civilians are freed from their clutches

Tamil Nadu is looking up to Prabhakaran for Leadership.

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

Great India has been humbled by a murderous terrorist Prabhakaran. Despite India's young promising Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi was un-respectfully blown to pieces at the instigation of Praphakaran in Tamil Nadu, Central Government of India cowardly gives into manipulation by Karunanidhi who is evidently a proxi to LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka.

DMK in constant contact with Sri Lanka taking information and instructions from the Sri Lanka terrorist proxy Party TNA, Karunanidhi has become a proxy to the terrorist Prabhakaran.

Karunanidhi has no reliable information to understand the ground situation in Sri Lanka. As Karunanidhi is bound by mysterious ties to Sri Lanka terrorists,( with her daughter's special terrorist leanings ) his informants are definitely the terrorists with Sambanathan of the Sri Lanka and other TNA MPs as the go between. Therefore, Tamil Nadu politicians are seeking to protect the terrorist Prabhakaran and his cohorts, on the pretext of supporting the Tamil civil population in Kilinochchi.

Whatever are the diplomatic Channels of contact, India was never a "friend" of Sri Lanka. India messed up with Sri Lanka in 1987 when the Government forces had almost brought terrorism to its knees, by its "parippu" intervention. Thereafter, India joined with the International Community to demand in chorus "both sides" in the Sri Lanka conflict should negotiate for a peace settlement.

India if it was more friendly with Sri Lanka, should have had the courage to tell the International Community, that the call for negotiations with the terrorists is futile as the Sri Lanka Terrorists, do not want to negotiate as they want to set up an Eelam State at any cost.
Even when India agreed to send the IPKF, it forced the government to agree to adopt the clause 13 of the constitution, and join North and East to one Province.

India is, and had always been a hypocrite neighbour of Sri Lanka, with expansionist intensions. In numerous occasions when Sri Lanka sought aid to help the Government Forces, India turned its back. Once when 40,000 soldiers of the Government Forces were stranded in Jaffna without transport facilities, Indian Government refused to help. It was Pakistan that helped Sri Lanka out of that dangerous situation where thousands of our soldiers would have been massacred by the terrorists.

Again when the terrorists had held the Government Forces in siege having come within a mile from the Jaffna Town, the request made to India by the Sri Lanka Government to provide arms and artillery was refused, and it was again Pakistan that came to save the Government Forces .

The Indian Government even tried to stop the Sri Lanka Government from the purchase of defensive military equipment from China and Russia, and now we see this " big brother" of Asia, shamelessly giving into Tamil Nadu State to defend the terrorists. It was not long ago that India stated speaking from World Forums that it is ready to fight terrorism without giving in to them. But behind the mantle of International publicity India displays its hypocrisy.

It was on 19 July,2005 the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress :

"As democracies, we must work together to create a world in which democracies can flourish. This is particularly important because we are today faced with new threats, such as global terrorism, to which democracies are particularly vulnerable," Singh said.
Singh said that terrorists exploit the inherent openness of democratic societies in an attempt to destroy their freedoms, and he dismissed the notion that there can be any legitimate justification for these acts.

"We know that those who resort to terror often cloak it in the garb of real or imaginary grievances," he said. "We must categorically affirm that no grievance can justify resort and recourse to terror."

Three years after that Manmohan Singh could not have changed his mind to have different views. If he has, he is a two tongued orator, who cannot be trusted.
Again:

MR. V.K. Nambiar, ,Permanent Representative of India to UN speaking at the UN Security Council on 4 March, 2004, said :

"……India's exposure to the ravages of terrorism for over two decades and the loss of
thousands of lives has only strengthened our resolve to fight this global menace. In the
period following the attacks of 11 September 2001, the international community has
been galvanised to act individually and collectively against the threat of international
terrorism….." "……..In our statement at the Security Council on 18 January 2002, soon after the adoption of Resolution 1373, India had made the following recommendations to the
Counter-Terrorism Committee:

• That its focus should extend to groups that are known to perpetrate terrorism;

• It should be pro-active in seeking views, in particular, from States affected by
terrorist acts;

• It should not be leave unchallenged or unaddressed claims of moral, political and
diplomatic support for terrorism, which were clearly in contravention of
Resolution 1373; and

• It should institute more effective measures to deny safe haven to terrorists and
to seek their extradition.

Undoubtedly, a lot has been achieved over the past two years. However,

continuing acts of terror in different parts of the world by the Al-Qaeda/Taliban, their
sympathisers, or groups with similar propensity to achieve their questionable objectives,
illustrate the continued vulnerability of the international community in this regard……."

And again:

India's position on Cross Border Terrorism

India has suffered for the past nearly two decades from terrorism in Punjab, in Jammu and Kashmir and in other parts of India. Countless innocent lives have been lost to the terrorist's bombs and guns.

India has consistently been highlighting the need for a unified international response to transnational and trans border terrorism which is today affecting many number of countries and challenging established societies and governments. The links between terrorists groups operating in India and other countries are quite clear today and the role that Pakistan has played in allowing this scourge to spread has also been amply documented.

India has sought to emphasize at international fora that terrorism is a global menace to which democracies are particularly vulnerable. India has called for concerted global action to counter terrorism and to ensure the enactment of measures such as sanctions against states responsible for sponsoring terrorist acts across international borders. The Government of India has actively supported the 1994 declaration adopted by the UN General Assembly on measures to eliminate international terrorism and the 1997 International Convention to Suppress Terrorist Bombings adopted by the UN General Assembly. India has also actively associated with resolutions in the United Nations Human Rights Commission condemning terrorism as a prime violator of human rights.

The spate of terrorist attacks in different countries, irrespective of their forms of government, and the resulting causalities of innocent civilians lend greater urgency to the need for the international community to unite and fight the threat from international and trans border terrorism and to censure those states that give arms and financial support and sanctuary to terrorists.

(indianembassy.org)

And again:

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in New Delhi.

``Violence seems to be permeating across the length and breadth of our country,'' Singh said at the meeting of the National Integration Council. ``There is terrorist violence, left-wing extremism and communal violence. There will be no compromise on terrorism and it has to be dealt with firmly.''

Yet again:

Addressing the 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in Colombo, Manmohan Singh said the world cannot afford to lose the battle against terror.
"Terrorism continues to rear its ugly head in our midst," he said in his speech. "It remains the single biggest threat to our stability... We cannot afford to lose the battle against the ideology of hatred… and against all those who seek to destroy our social and societal (values)."

"Terrorists know no borders," the prime minister said, adding that the July 7 suicide bombing at the Indian embassy in Kabul and the later serial bombings in Bangalore and Ahmedabad cities were "gruesome reminders of the barbarity" terrorism was capable of unleashing.

At least 50 people were killed in the Kabul attack, for which India blamed the Pakistani intelligence. The serial bombings in Bangalore and Ahmedabad killed another 50 people.
He said countries needed to act with determination to "fight this curse. We must defend the values of pluralism, peaceful co-existence and the rule of law". (Hindustan Times)
That was what India told the world to hear:

But for India they were mere words. Hypocrisy is India's second name:

India's Constitution which in some quarters in Sri Lanka is quoted as a model Constitution suitable for Sri Lanka, now shows its weaknesses. It has failed to make India a Unitary State able to speak in one voice. South India may try its validity by breaking away on the Sri Lanka terrorist issue.

But fortunately for, India the DMK big voices are inveterate noise makers, without knowing exactly where they are being lead to. In that dilemma they look up to Sri Lanka terrorist leader Prabhakaran, for Leadership. -

Ranil Wickramasinghe prepares for 2009 elections.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

There is a battle in the north where our Soldiers die in great numbers to eliminate the terrorists and end terrorism from Sri Lanka. But the failed opposition leader least concerned about the suffering of the people and the plight of the soldiers fighting against the most ruthless terrorists, is preparing the election campaign for 2009.

What lack of understanding and maturity on the part of a politicians who is supposed to be the leader of the UNP , and the leader of the opposition. I hope the UNP has finished with the "bath gottas" of the former time, who voted for favours and followed the UNP election caravans, clowning, and often bullying the people, into joining the cavalcade.

If those times have gone, and if UNP has the intelligent decent supporters, they should refuse to follow Ranil Wickramasinghe's uninspiring failed leadership. There is a more potential leader outspoken and different, breaking the ranks to be heard and if the UNP supporters have any sense of urgency to give back to the old party its lost prestige, they should hoist Rukman Senanayake and acclaim him as their leader. Ranil Wickramasinghe has lost his credibility and people have lost trust in him. He cannot inspire the people with new proposals.

You get to know the man from the company he keeps. If you listen to Lakshman Kiriella, Tissa Attanayake, and S.B.Dissanayake, you will recognise their leader. They have themselves nothing new to propose other than to discredit, vilify, and denigrate the President Mahinda Rajapakse, his family and the government.

That helps nobody, and UNP has nothing positive to propose. Ranil Wickramasinghe claims that the President is hiding vital issues behind the war and advises the government to hand over the responsibility of waging war to the military and focus its attention on resolving people's problems.

He adds that the government should take the lead given by late presidents J.R. Jayewardene and R. Premadasa on how to carry on with both, without hiding public issues with war.

Though Ranil Wickramasinghe is "slow " to understand, the people are more "intelligent" to know that the President Mahainda Rajapakse has no lesson to take from the past or present UNP leaders. The President Mahinda Rajapakse knows exactly what he is doing.

He has been able to get the terrorists, who the calculating self ambitious Ranil Wicramasinghe like his former leaders, strengthened, and signing behind the back of the people a CFA ,gave the terrorists the time, and the opportunity to build a formidable terrorist force with modern arms, with technological support, onto their knees.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse, has proved himself to be a formidable statesman, incomparable to any of the past Presidents of Sri Lanka. Even Manmohan Sing of India who is being taken for a "ride" by the Tamil Nadu terrorist motivated Karunanidhi camp, and the other politicians seeking to save the ruthless terrorist Prabhakaran , can learn lessons from our President.
The government is not hiding any thing behind the war. Despite the difficulties, and global financial peril the government has not failed to carry out several development projects. global price hikes of consumer goods have affected Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is not alone in this difficult economic situation.

Once the major problems have been solved the President will undoubtedly take the country on the correct road to progress. The much talked ,over excessively large cabinet has not been a waste as there are a good number of Ministers who are silently going ahead with many development projects, and defending Sri Lanka in International Forums.

Ranil Wickramasinghe's advice to the President and the government will be hailed as wise by his blind ambitious " bath gottas" around him , but not so by the more intelligent larger vote base.

Ranil Wickramasinghe unfortunately cannot hold a candle to the President Mahinda Rajapakse. Further more the people will not pardon him for having snared into his camp one of the greatest of our war heroes late General Janake Perera, and caused his untimely death, in an unwise choice of a political path. Hope no one else will follow Ranil Wickramasinghe's advice to join him, and thus seek an untimely end.

Parties with Sinhala Majority should speak with one voice against terrorism.

Sunday, October 19, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

Problem of Sri Lanka compared to many nations of the developing world, is its inability to speak in one voice. At least the Sinhala dominated political parties, despite the accusation by the Tamil diaspora of being racists ,should rally together when the existence itself of the motherland is at stake.

The UNP, and the JVP have really turned traitors to the motherland at the most crucial hour of her need. They are fighting for price hikes of essential commodities when the enemies of the motherland are getting ready to divide the country. They are more worried about filling their hungry stomachs, when the poor soldiers risking their lives to fight the terrorists in Killinochchi are going without a decent meal for days, or perhaps weeks.

The UNP and JVP have no respect for the thousands of war heroes who had died in the effort to free the motherland from terrorism. Every incident is made an occasion to condemn the government and the President, even when it is quite evident the shameless massacres against the innocent people are carried out by the one and only enemy of the people the terrorists UNP yells from house tops that it is the government that is suspect.

The racism against the Majority Sinhala does not come from the ordinary Tamil people of Sri Lanka, be they the IDP in Kilinochchi or the ordinary Tamil people living elsewhere in Sri Lanka. It is a fact that should be seriously taken note of by the Sinhala people. Therefore, the Sinhala people should help and come to their assistance when ever a situation, to help, and assist the ordinary Tamil people arise. The Sinhala people should harbour no ill will against them.

The virulent racism against the Majority Sinhala comes from the Tamil diaspora, Tamil Nadu, and the local politicians of the UNP, SLMC,TNA. UNP (?) yes they are also racists of a special type, because they are with the terrorists , and is out to help the survival of terrorism.

You can see how these deplorable UNP politicians accused the government for the massacre at Anuradhapura where the Late General Janaka Perera and 27 others met with their tragic death, when all evidence showed without a shadow of a doubt that it was the work of the terrorists:

It was not only at the late General Janaka Perera's death but at all assassinations which pointed the one and only perpetrator ,of such crimes the terrorists, UNP jumped to the conclusion that the Government had a hand in it:

Tissa Attanayake UNP, General Secretary:

At the assassination of the MP. Late Mr.T.Maheswaran: Tissa Attanayake Said:

"The government had reduced his security after he was being critical of the government and the president, so the government should be held responsible for his killing," UNP general Secretary Tissa Attanayake told Reuters news agency.

At the Assassination of Late General Janaka Perera:

UNP General Secretary Tissa Aththanayaka said:

…. we have no trust on the investigations of the government and we believe they will lead to hide the culprits. Therefore, an independent investigation is essential and we urge to appoint an international

Rauf Hakeem, the leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress said

, "All the political killings of the recent history had a similar pattern. Without any probe the culprit was named as LTTE. The police that should commence the probe with an open mind, first of all ruled that the killing was carried out by LTTE. This stance is not in favor of an independent investigation."

Mangala Samaraweera SLFP-PW leader said.

"We are not definite if this killing was carried out by LTTE.
"Those who were killed in this attack are a few that were headaches to the government. It is exposed that the government had hand in the killing of MPs also. Karuna Group provided people to that act. Therefore, there is a reasonable doubt that the shadow of state terror is behind this murder.

Ranil Wickramasinghe Opposition Leader said,

"We have suspicions over this bomb attack and the investigation regarding it.
UNP,SLMC and SLFP-PW ,United national Party (UNP), Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) and Sri Lanka Freedom Party People's Wing (SLFP-PW) charged the President in his caliber as the Minister of Defense and the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense for not providing security for Major General Janaka Perera

John Amaratunga, UNP , MP said

the government should take the full responsibility for the assassination of Maj. Gen. Janaka Perera as it had not provided him with adequate security allowing a suicide bomber to take his life and those of a large number of UNP officials including Dr. Johnpulle

S.B. Dissanayake, UNP National Organizer alleged

a government hand in the incident four days ago, noting that police were still clueless about the attacker. Fortunately, these men of the UNP who had been making allegations are only masquerading as the leaders of the UNP, they have no qualities of leadership having taken side with the terrorist, and covering them, whatever would happen to the motherland..
But the words of Rukman Senanayake in this sad situation where the UNP seems to be acting without proper direction, are fresh and encouraging.

Rukman Senanayake of the UNP said:

"As the main opposition party we are extending our unconditional support to the Government in its endeavor to eliminate terrorism, said the Chairman of the United National Party Rukman Senanayake. - Sri Lanka Guardian

Sri Lanka in cordial relations with Tamil Nadu

Sunday, October 19, 2008

Great wise men and venerated sages from Sri Lanka and South India united to accomplish greater Tasks.

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 20, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) In Tiruchi of the ancient Chola country in South India was found a 51" Buddhist Statute in granite dating back to 10th or 11th Century AD. In Tamil Nadu there were Tamil Buddhists. The Tamil Buddhsits in Tamil Nadu, and Sinhala Buddhists in Sri Lanka had cordial relations. Vennearable Buddhaghosa who translated the Sinhala Commentaries on Buddhist texts and wrote a compendium of the tripitaka came from Tailang in South India.

Ghosa who later became Venerable Buddhaghosa was a great Hindu intellectual who was well versed in the Vedas. During that time in India the Maghada Language Pali had gone out of use. It was only in Buddhagaya that the Sri Lanka Buddhist Priests who were in residence there that kept alive the Pali language.

One of the senior monks, Venerable Revata from Sri Lanka, one day heard Sanskrit Vedic Verses sung by a wandering ascetic. Venerable Revata was very impressed by his recitation of Sanskrit stanzas. He called him to his temple, he was Ghosa. Venerable Revata spoke to him about Buddhist Suttas written in Pali. Ghosa who listened to the Venerable Revata reciting verses from the Abhidhamma, took a great liking to it. He wanted to study the original Buddhist texts.

On his request Ghosa was ordained as a monk and given the name Buddhaghosa. Venerable Revata told him that the original manuscripts containing the Sutta discourses of the Budhha, were taken by Venerabla Arahant Mahinda thero to Sri Lanka in the third century BC. These texts along with the commentaries in Sinhala were at Mahavihara in Anuradhapura, in Sri Lanka. Venerable Reveta requested Venerable Buddhaghosa to go to Sri Lanka, and translate the Sinhala Commentaries into Pali and bring them to India for the greater good of the Buddha Sasana.

Thereupon Venerable Buddhaghosa came back to his native Tailang in South India, and proceeded from there by boat to Sri Lanka. On his way, he met in the high seas Venerable Bhuddhadatta who was returning to his home country in Uragapur in the ancient Chola Country in South India. On hearing each others experiences, Venerable Buddhadatta, requested Venerable Buddhaghosa to send him copies of his work in Sri Lanka.

Venerable Buddhaghosa disembarked at the port of Jambukola, in Jaffna, and proceeded from there to Anuradhapura in 5 century AD. Sri Lanka was ruled at the time by King Mahanama. Venerable Buddhaghosa was received at the Maha Vihara in Anuradhapura, by Venerable Sangapala thero.. Venerable Buddhaghosa studied Thervada Buddhist texts under the direction of Venerable Sangapala the Sinhala monk. His permission to translate the Sinhala Commentaries in to Pali was granted after he compiled a compendium of the whole of the teachings of the Buddha in the Tripitaka. Venerable Buddhaghosa included into it all the commentaries in Sinhala to the Tripitaka. It is the Visuddhimagga.

Rohan L.Jayetilleke says in respect of this great encyclopaedic work of the Great Venerable Buddhaghosa from the ancient Tamil Nadu, " The Visuddhimagga above all is a testimony to the intellectual attainments of Buddhaghosha in knowledge it is encyclopaedic and enshrining a deep insight, is the most valuable contribution of any Indian to the continuation of a Pali Theravada Buddhism, at a time Buddhism was in the vain in India and Sanskrit language had eclipsed Pali, in all spheres of activity both, secular, religious and literary ".

When permission was granted to Venerable Buddhaghosa by the Priests of the Mahavihara to undertake this great task, he took residence at Ganthakara Parivena in the Mahavihara and translated all commentaries including the whole of Abhidhamma from Sinhala to Pali.

Thereafter, the Venerabla Buddhadatta thero, who had taken residence in a Vihara on the Baks of Kaveri River, in South India, on receiving the copies of the manuscripts from Venerable Buddhaghosa, after reading the commentaries to the Abhidhamma, and the Vinaya , wrote Abhidhammavatara, and Vinayavinicca based on Venerable Buddhaghosa's stupendous work.

That was the incomparable relationship the intellectual spiritual Leaders of the ancient Tamil Nadu, had with Sri Lanka and the Sinhala spiritual Leaders.

Let us pray that time would come that South India will have such great men of immeasurable value to establish spiritual and lay relations with equally great men in Sri Lanka. - Sri Lanka Guardian

Jayalalithaa please wake up, You have work to do for the people of South India.

Sunday, October 12, 2008

"We should grant her understanding Prabhakaran's blood splattered path towards a Tamil Eelam, better than any one else in South India as she has had at least a cinema screen experience of a blood thirsty vampire. But where she gets this political logic of a self determination is uncertain, as self determination is more complicated than she seems to think."

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 13, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) The adulated Ammu, or Puratchi Thalaivi , who came to fame in South India acting as a vampire in Goodachari, and now as J.Jayalalitha leader of AIADMK, when invited by the Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi- infamous for his poem on the memory of Late Thamilselvam, for a joint party conference to discuss ways and means to help the beleaguered terrorist supremo "thalaivar" or "Sun god" Prabhakaran, called him names and refused to sit with him at the Joint Party Conference.

Muthuvel Karunanidhi the Chief Minister , very modern and depending judiciously more on the electronic media, called all supporters of the terrorist cause in Sri Lanka to send e-mails to the Prime Minister of India. The PM, inundated with e-mails had asked the other man not quite decided on terrorism Defence Secretary Narayanan to call the Sri Lanka High Commission and give him a piece of his mind.

The High Commission had apparently sent a Junior Diplomat, according to wise Jayalalithaa to meet Narayanan. Narayanan had an informal chat with the Sri Lankan Diplomat, and told him how up set the Central Government is with what is taking place in South India, than what actually is going on in Sri Lanka.

However, the South Indian political leadership seems to be in deeper trouble than we in Sri Lanka with UNP, JVP and TNA. On the other hand, the situation in India is still worse, with all its present problem with terrorism, Kashmir, and South India- not minding its own business. South India seems to have no other problem, other than interfering in to Sri Lanka's ethnic problem. On that issue as well South India cannot make up its mind, and not quite well in formed, their only source of information being the terrorist proxi party TNA .

The South Indian political leaders are accusing each other, each defending each one's own stand on the Tamil terrorist issue in Sri Lanka. Jayalalithaa supports the Tamils to the extent of its fight for self determination, but not for Tamil militancy or terrorism. That leaves out her support to the terrorist supremo Prabhakaran. But what is incomprehensible is the question of self determination, without terrorism. She does not seem to know what exactly she is talking about.

We should grant her understanding Prabhakaran's blood splattered path towards a Tamil Eelam, better than any one else in South India as she has had at least a cinema screen experience of a blood thirsty vampire. But where she gets this political logic of a self determination is uncertain, as self determination is more complicated than she seems to think.

But one should give credit to her having had thought of taking revenge from the terrorists in Sri Lanka for assassinating Rajiv Gandhi on South Indian soil. Karunanidhi does not seem to have such esteem to the late Rajiv Gandhi, more occupied composing poems for terrorists in Sri Lanka. However, Manmohan Singh should be warned to stay where he is without setting foot on the South Indian soil for some time.

Jayalalithaa has said that everyone knows her on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue. She has stated that the Tamils too are citizens with equal status like other citizens in Sri Lanka and they are not second class citizens. She emphasized that she fully supports the long-standing struggle of the Tamils, to get equal rights in law, education and employment opportunities and fully supports the moral struggle of the Sri Lankan Tamils, seeking self-determination.

She does not know what she is talking about, yet she thinks she can give practical advise to Sri Lanka. That in fact is what is intolerable with many foreign governments, persons and Institutions who think they can intervene to solve our problems without knowing the exact situation. They make statements without knowing any thing about Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has no problems with the Tamils living any where in Sri Lanka. The trouble caused to the Tamils in the north is not the making of the Government of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has a responsible government. It is doing its best to extricate the Tamil population in the terrorists controlled areas from continued harassment by the terrorists in to Government Controlled areas, to give them shelter, health care, food, and clothing.

The Tamil population in Sri Lanka were never treated as second class citizens, and their right to health services, education, and employment opportunities have never been denied to them. Jayalalithaa must have awakened after a long slumber like Kumbhakarna to have these hallucinations, or her knowledge of foreign affairs is not balanced, lacks depth, and understanding.

Jayalalithaa should awake to reality, or learn from others before making false allegations. It is the terrorists that are killing, assassinating, massacring, and maiming the Civilians both in the North and South. The Sri Lanka Government was forced to use the army as a solution to stop terrorism, and has never forsaken the political solution to unite the different Communities in to a Nation.

Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, and Vaiko, are outlandish incompetent foreign politicians as far as Sri Lanka is concerned. They only complicate the problem of the Tamil people of Sri Lanka. The Tamil people of Sri Lanka are different from the clan Jayalalithaa and the rest represent. It is only the terrorists who try to create a new link with the South Indian crowd, therefore, Jayalaithaa should get in contact with Prabhakaran and try to advise him to give up ,his militancy and terrorism.

By far the better way Jayalalithaa can help the Tamils of Sri Lanka, is to leave the problem of Sri Lanka to be solved by the government of Sri Lanka, and look after many problems South India and Indian Central Government are faced with, at the moment.

Jayalalithaa speaks of selfish motives of Karunanihi. But then what are the motives of Jayalalitha, and Vaiko,? Are they any different from the selfish motives of Karunanidhi ? They are all selfishly roaring, seeking benefits from the terrorist problem in Sri Lanka to feather their own political nest. Unless south India washes its hand with the terrorist problem of Sri Lanka, it will soon be South India's own problem. Therefore, it would be wiser to keep off the affairs of Sri Lanka to the Government of Sri Lanka.

Only way Karunanidhi, Jayalalitha, and Vaiko can help, as they have contact with the terrorists, is to ask the terrorist to surrender to the Government army, to save their own lives, that of their rank and file , and the poor civilians kept by them as human shields, in the areas still under their control.

India need not intervene to drop " parippu" to the population in the north, like they did some years back. The government is quite capable of looking after its own people in the North, East, West, and the South. The Government is sending food and medicine on a weekly basis to North, despite the fact the pro-terrorists are making use of that opportunity to send bombs, arms, and military material to the terrorists in the north, hidden inside food packets.

Our President is wise and acts with foresight. He could be an example to follow by the Indian politicians including Narayanan, and Manmohan Singh. As a politician Jayalalithaa has much to learn from the President Mahinda Rajapakse of Sri Lanka, who is a wise, mature and a clever politician-in the true sense of the word.

The following two extracts are from a talk given by the President of Sri Lanka Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksemade at the All Party Conference for political reforms in Sri Lanka which give an insight to his political maturity:

"…..However difficult it may be, it is my belief that the efforts to find political solutions to political issues should be continued. It is my belief that there are no military solutions to political questions. The people have elected us to realize their aims and aspirations. It is our duty to ensure to the Tamil people of the North the same democratic rights as enjoyed by the people in all other parts of the country. Military operations have become necessary to eradicate terrorism from the country and enthrone democracy throughout the land,"

Speaking of the " terrorist" he said, "……."I wish to once again very clearly call on the LTTE to lay down their arms and surrender. They should act in this manner and enter the democratic political process. Our aim should be to ensure the democratic political rights of our Tamil brethren."

What more do you expect from a leader of the Nation ? -

The Majority Community is Racist, the Minority Communities are not racists

Saturday, October 11, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 12, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) One of the definitions of racisms is discriminatory or abusive behaviour towards members of another race, the other is, the prejudice that members of one race are intrinsically superior to members of other races.

Is it a pattern of behaviour confined to the Majority in a country ? If so the minorities are not racists they are only vindicating their rights as minorities. That may be so because a few articles on trying to justify the fact of belonging to the Majority Community, was taken as being racist against the minority. The minority justifying their right to being part of the country, might not stop at merely making demands for their rights, they may even take arms against the majority racists, to make their just claims.

If the minority, or a group from the minority, who had taken up arms refuses all negotiations and demands a part of the territory to set up their own State and threaten the government to cede or prepare for an all out war, and kill the opponents, recruit children by force, attack civilian targets, that would be terrorism.

Hence, when there is both terrorism, and a demand for equal right, the majority who turns to fight the terrorists, or asserts the fact of their majority, are labelled racists, supremacists, and chauvinists.

In a way the extreme- prejudice (without calling it racism) of the minority against the majority, could set off extreme racism of the majority . That is far more tolerable as long as the minority stays at that level of making demands, and making all sorts of accusations against the majority, without taking up arms to claim a part of the country for themselves.

In the latter situation racism is not after all reprehensible, as the racist majority will defend the country against any minority group, that may go to the other extreme of becoming terrorists to break away a part of the territory of the country to set up a homeland. The racist majority will thus guarantee the minority communities, that their motherland remains intact- as a whole, un-mutilated by any over zealous minority group turning terrorists.

Therefore, the majority will be doing a service for themselves, and to the other minority communities, by being racists. Hence, there is no problem having an Army Commander from the racist Majority. He will fight against all intruders with his racist soldiers and assure the defence of the motherland for the greater good of all Communities. What does it matter if the Army Commander makes a statement which has a racist flavour, as long as he does his duty to defend the country ?

The Tamil minority too do not want terrorism. They want to live in peace as much as the other minority communities and the majority community. They only claim for "equal political rights". The Tamils and the other minorities, as much as the majority deplores any attempt by any terrorist group to break away the country to form an Eelam State.

In this respect the Sri Lanka Guardian carries an interesting article by a Tamil writer Satchi Sithanandan, written three years ago, in which he writes about the damage caused to the Tamil Community by the terrorists who had taken away the cream of the Tamil Community. He laments for the poor Tamil people who are caught between the two demons the terrorists of the north and the racists of the south.

We are all with him in these saddened circumstances in which the treasured blooms of a community, had been crushed by a crude worthless terrorists. However, between the two demons the terrorist of the north, and the racist of the south, the former is distinctively destructive, and the latter nonetheless is protective (or at least serves a purpose) .

The majority community has also sacrificed to terrorism a good number of their much loved leaders. Even if these "dead leaders" are to be considered racists by the minority communities giving them just a passing thought. They have nevertheless rendered service to their mother land, which is also the motherland of the other communities.

The role of the majority to protect the minority, appears a universal fact. In Afghanistan, it is the Americans , British and the French that fight the terrorist to keep Afghanistan free and united. Because, the Talibans though they are a terrorist group are also a part of the larger Afghan community with a strong religious link. Afghanistan on its own cannot fight the terrorist Talibans. Hence, the intervention of the international Community to help them.

In Sri Lanka the terrorists are a group that belongs to the Tamil Community, therefore, even if the Tamils do not like terrorism, they are unable on their own to fight against the terrorists. Despite this fact the rich Sri Lanka Tamil diaspora, which is not suffering ( had not or will not ) as the Tamil people in the terrorist controlled areas financially help terrorism.

The Tamil diaspora is doing so, perhaps, to help the terrorists defeat the racist Government Forces, to teach the majority racists a lesson for having forced a generation before to leave their motherland after riots in 1983- which should not be forgotten !

But, we do not want any foreign Country to interfere. We have an army (even if it is considered a racist army) strong enough to defend against terrorism. Therefore the Government Forces are doing it for themselves, and for every other community, as no body –neither the minorities nor the majority, want Sri Lanka decapitated to form a Tamil Eelam in the north and East.

Therefore, for the Tamil diaspora who are opposed to terrorism, ( "….The Tamils have been caught between two demons for too long a time, the Southern Racists and the Northern Terrorists and they are crying to be liberated."), the army of the southern racist "demons", is doing what they should do to defend the country (which is their duty), from which other minority (non racist) communities could benefit.

Under these circumstance the majority serves a positive purpose , remaining as racists, supremacists, and chauvinists. - Sri Lanka Guardian

UNP shamelessly invents evidence, to inculpate the Government, and exculpate the terrorists.

Thursday, October 9, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 10, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Is this a government or a ghoul ? asks the UNP's vociferous Mr.Dissanayake. A ghoul is perhaps an inappropriate word, as the government did not go digging corpses. The government has apparently not committed any sacrilege either in not air lifting the coffins containing the corpses of Late General Janaka Perera and Late Ms.Perera. The government is at the moment getting blamed for many things, in the present case about which Mr.Dissanayake has raised his voice, the government is apparently not to be blamed. Because, a person non other than the Prime Minister of the Government has in no uncertain terms accepted the responsibility for the un ortunate circumstances of the coffins having not been airlifted.

A dead body of a person is the most sacred remains for those who loved him, friends, and all well wishers. It cannot therefore be treated with disrespect. But Mr. Dissanayake, should know better that in Sri Lanka, we are going throw most difficult of times. There is the most brutal terrorists, who are no respecters of living or dead persons. Even a dead body could be used by them to create more havoc. That is why there is very strict security measures that are observed, even when it concerns the dead bodies of VIPs.

The Air Force had requested adherence to strict security measures in transporting the bodies of the Late General Janaka Perera, and the Late Ms.Perera to the Air Port. It should have therefore, been left to the Airport Authorities to transport the bodies. But the General Secretary of the UNP, Mr. Tissa Attanayake precipitated for "whatever reason" overlooking the instruction given by the Airport Authorities, took it on himself the responsibility to take the bodies.

Therefore, the unfortunate situation of the coffins being kept outside the Airport, and the refusal to airlift the bodies which could not be checked for security reasons by the Airport Authorities, cannot be attributed to the Government. But the fault is attributable to Mr. Tissa Attanayake, for his wrong initiative. The Prime Minister had taken the responsibility for the unfortunate incident, and it is now left to Tissa Attanayake to take his part of the responsibility, for not allowing the Air Port Authorities to carryout their duties, and stop making irrelevant accusations against the government.

The unfortunate situation would not have arisen if the UNP had not precipitated into action, leaving aside the concerns of the member of the family of the Late General. If the matter had been left to be decided by the family, they would have acted differently with more respect to the dead.

The dead should not be made a pawn in the political checkerboard, to sling accusations of irresponsibility or disrespect . The Late General Janaka Perera, before he became the victim of the terrorist suicide bomb, he had two personalities. One was a respected and acclaimed war hero, which will live beyond death, esteemed, and honoured by the people to-day, and generations to come in the future. That cannot be denied to him by a filthy terrorist, a government, or any of his adversaries.

His other personality, is that of a politician-a politician of the right wing UNP. In that capacity there are his adversaries, opponents , and objectors. There will always be people who will dislike his political personality, which selected a political party that sympathised with the terrorist, who he as the General of the Army fought through out his professional life.

The UNP which casts uncalled for aspersions on the government, are the politicians who dragged The late retired General Janaka Perera, to an area which, if he were left to decide on his own may not have chosen. But the UNP leaders cajoled, and tempted him by offer of the Post of the Defence Minister if the UNP come into power, or even secret groups of the UNP politicians promising to offer him the leadership of the party.

None of these UNP leaders beginning from the "big boss" himself has stood aside from the maddening political crowd , to say one word of goodness about the dead man and his dead wife, without throwing words of hatred and , petty accusation for political gain. One really begins to ask whether these UNP men, Ranil Wickramsinghe, Tissa Attanayaka, Jayalath Jayawardhana, S.B.Dissanayake, Lakshman Kiriella, Abeywardhana, Ranga Bandara, and the non UNP sour faced Mangala Samaraweera, and scheming Hakeem, are really lamenting for the man that was the General Janaka Perera, or do they lament because they have lost some one who could have given them a political "clout".

Or else are they making such a noise, to go unheard some "sleazy" sordid , affair which they band together to cover up.

The government , would have of cause, liked it if the Late General Janaka Perera had joined the government, but there is no motive for the government to have killed him. He was not a potential danger to the government. It was the UNP that was trying to make capital out of the late Generals adherence to the party.

The UNP's repeated allegation that they have ample evidence that there had been another "source" behind the killing of the General, makes the UNP suspect, and one begins to question what is the necessity for the UNP to exculpate the terrorists who every intelligent person, who had lived through the period of continuous horrendous crimes, would not hesitate for an instant to doubt that the terrorists were behind the assassination. Unless of course the UNP knows of some one, who had sent a special emissary to the LTTE terrorists asking them carry out the massacre at Anuradhapura.

If as the UNP points its finger towards the government , the government may also point its finger at the UNP, and give several valuable "motives" for the crime. Many writers have already given some valid reasons for which the General may have been "eliminated".

Mr. S.B.Dissanayake in his defence of the terrorists argues that the "limping man ", who was supposed to have been the "suicide bomb suspect", could not have done it alone as some one should have been there to carry him. That itself is a very strange defence, as it had been said that the terrorists train handicapped persons to be carry out suicide missions.

But this "limping " man, as the eye witnesses had said rushed in when the request was made to "eat kiribath", and bent to salute the Late General Janaka Perera before he opened his shirt to detonate the bomb.

So what other proof is necessary to prove the case against the "limping" man.

Of course S.B.Dissanayake, Tiss Attanayake, Ranga Bandara, Lakshman Kiriella, were not witnesses to the incident, as they were safely away from the opening ceremony of the UNP Office in Anuradhapura. That is another mystery surrounding this unfortunate massacre. Why was it that none of these party stalwarts were present for the opening ceremony. That would be " damning " circumstantial evidence of UNP involvement. That would fuel the government's argument to point its finger at UNP, as UNP points a finger at the government on legally inadmissible hearsay evidence.

No one until now had spoken about a White Van. Mr. S.B.Dissanayake speaks about people who had seen a White Van dropping "the assassin". This piece of evidence proffered by S.B.Dissanayaken who had been safely away from the scene of the crime, is again hear say evidence.

However, this White Van may have either come from the highly imaginative mind of Mr.Dissanayake , or it may have been the White Van that was used by the security men of Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe- of which there was much talk some time back.

All these evidence the UNP hierarchy is trying their best to invent to exculpate terrorists, is putrid and smell to the high heavens.

It is better that the UNP stop committing further sacrilege towards the memory of an honourable man whose life had been snatched along with that of his dear wife, by a most dastardly act committed once again by the hateful terrorists. - Sri Lanka Guardian

Charles S Perera sees a terrorist in every Tamil

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

“All people in Sri Lanka are Sri Lankans but in some aspects we have our unique culture and traditions but they are all like gems in a jewel and that is Sri Lanka. If this is beyond the comprehension of Charles S Perera, this writer cannot do anything about it except to go on his knees and ask the Eternal Father to cause a miracle.”

by Satchi Sithanandan

(October 07, Frankfurt, Sri Lanka Guardian) There is no doubt Charles S Perera wants to recognize every person who has a Tamil name as a rank racist and that seems his terrible obsession. He could not understand and accept that a Tamil could be a democrat and his first loyalty to the country is as a Sri Lankan. Likewise there are people in the Tamil community who see every Sinhalese as a racist, Charles S Perera of course included, and none could be a democrat and they all consider themselves as Sinhaladipa citizens.

But, fortunately, this is not true at all. Tamils love Sri Lanka and want it as a truly democratic state and the Sinhalese too want it that way. This is the heart and soul of the people of the grass roots all over Sri Lanka. Perhaps Mr Charles S Perera, like this writer had not had the chance to have been widely traveled in the country like him, lived among the Sri Lankans irrespective what community they came from, and the friends he counts among all the people.

He seems so disappointed that this writer is a democrat; even annoyed. He picks hairs as one would do on an egg shell to stress himself hard to prove that this writer is not a democrat. What a terrible experience or rather ordeal for a man who believes Sri Lanka is only for the Sinhalese and therefore infuriated and even incensed this writer wants Sri Lanka for himself as well and his people too. It is the right of every Tamil equally every Sinhalese and Muslim, Burghers and Malays to feel Sri Lanka is their home.

This writer with his Tamil name has no problem whatsoever sharing Sri Lanka with Mr Charles S Perera! Or with Abdul Sinnelebbe or Martin Weinman or Kanthappu Sinnappu! Come on Mr Perera, in which century are you living or on which planet in the universe?. Even South Africa got rid of apartheid some years ago.

All people in Sri Lanka are Sri Lankans but in some aspects we have our unique culture and traditions but they are all like gems in a jewel and that is Sri Lanka. If this is beyond the comprehension of Charles S Perera, this writer cannot do anything about it except to go on his knees and ask the Eternal Father to cause a miracle.

This writer is honest to recognize the services to the country of the Lt General Sarath Fonseka. He heads a campaign to rid the country of terrorism and the country has to be rid of terrorism. This country has suffered many forms of terrorism from the time of the southern revolt early 1970s. But there is a matter of honour involved and this is even more important in the forces.

The good general made a statement to a foreign press that is not acceptable. If a sibling or friend of mine had made that statement I would have certainly insisted as a matter of honour to explain the circumstances and if apology is proper then apologize or even lay the office down. Just because he is a good officer it does not mean that he can be allowed to compromise on values that are key to the responsibilities with which he has been conferred.

Why is it difficult for Mr Charles Perera to understand this primary factor? - Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, first to make Yesterday's Terrorists, to-day's model citizens

Tuesday, October 7, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) UNP, and JVP are Democratic Political Parties responsible to the Parliament holding allegiance to their Oath as the representatives of the people. TNA, unfortunately has a double allegiance first to the Terrorist leader Parabhakaran, and then to the Sri Lanka Parliament.

TNA's allegiance to Sri Lanka is put into doubt in its presence with politicians of DMK, South India, to make manifestations against Sri Lanka. The Government of Sri Lanka being a government of the elected representative of the people, the Members of the Parliament of Sri Lanka have no right to make manifestations against the government along with the Parliamentarians of a Foreign State. That must be imbedded in the Constitution, or a matter for interpretation by Constitutional Lawyers. The TNA therefore in its errant comportment forfeits the right of being a "democratic" political party.

But UNP and JVP being democratic parties, their boycotting the Parliament when Mr.Vinayagamurthi Muralidaran was sworn in as a Member of the Sri Lanka Parliament is a shameless show of political "meanness"- an ignoble lack of honour or morality, a disrespect towards democratic institution, and an open insult to the people who elected them..

It is a unique Opportunity Sri Lanka Government had in changing a yesterday's terrorist to a today's democrat, and make him sit as a respectable representative of his people in the country's Parliament.

The World's great democracies, with all the economic power, political know how, the technological development, and who even send people to the moon, hunt terrorists outside its home country. But they cannot boast of what a small country like Sri Lanka had been able to do with people, and terrorists. It is really a contradiction that a country that is being accused by the International Community, and our Great nearest neighbour India, for violation of human rights of its own people, is swearing in a person who was a terrorist a few years back, as a Parliamentarian and a model citizen.

That itself belies the contention of the International Community, and it various agents such as the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, the UNCHR, that Sri Lanka is a failed state with a record of violation of Human Rights of its citizens.

Of course TMVP is accused of carrying arms, and having child soldiers. Though the International Community and the Government's opposition fail to understand that TMVP was greatly responsible for the defeat of the, once claimed to be the "invincible" forces of the terrorists, and they are under death threat, and therefore they keep their guns for their own protection. That would be understood only by those who know of the ruthlessness, and the capability of the terrorists to kill who they want, when they want, and where they want.

As to child soldiers, the TMVP leader explained that they have some children who had been recruited earlier when they were still with the LTTE terrorists, but preferred to remain with Karuna Amman even when he disbanded his dissident army, and they were released by him, as they had no where to go, not knowing their parents, or not knowing where they had come from.

Sri Lanka small as it is, is the only country that had been fighting the most ruthless terrorist group in the world and is almost winning it. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka's nearest neighbour India, fearing a defeat at the next general election, is standing as a barrier to the Government of Sri Lanka for its Army's final assault against the terrorists.

The Government Forces of Sri Lanka have done yeoman service in its battle against terrorism despite continuous difficulties it had to face with the interfering International Crowd of Governments, Ambassadors, Associations, Human Rights activists, mercenaries, and the local anti war lobby.

It is a great credit to our Government Forces that, when the world's powerful nations with more sophisticated arms and artillery had lost in all their wars conducted against every sort of terrorists, from Vietnam, to Iraq, they over powered the terrorists that controlled every aspect of the people's lives in the north and east for over a quarter of a century. The man Vinayagamurthi Muralidaran, who is sworn in today as a Parliamentarian, helped the Government Forces to a great extent in its battle against terrorism. It is just that he has been rewarded with high office, which would also be a lesson for the terrorists.

We have not only won our war against terrorism, but also we have been able to make yesterday's terrorists today's model citizens. What we lack is unity among the political parties who vying for power disassociate from all great achievements of our little motherland Sri Lanka.

Thanks to a Great President, we are also the only country that has built friendly relation with every nation in the World, including Iran, Brazil, Cyprus, and Morocco . Ours is the country that has accepted all its communities without differentiating between a majority or a minority status, attempting a unique experience of associating a multi ethnic nation in to a United Nation of all Communities.

That is possible with a little more effort on the part of its associates here and abroad, provided we are left alone by the International Community and our next door neighbour India.- Sri Lanka Guardian

Oh , No! Satchi Sithanandan is not a racist, he is a Democrat.

Monday, October 6, 2008

by Charles.S. Perera

(October 07, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) Satchi Sithanandan pontificating on racism is very enlightening. He pontificates on Sinhala racism. This strangely coming on the day the "non-racist" Prabhakaran had stretched his weird tentacles to explode a suicide black tiger terrorist to kill a Sinhala National hero, his wife and twenty two other innocent Sinhala and their sympathisers, is paying back to the Tamil diaspora the value for the money they contribute to Prabhakaran's terrorism.

He very cleverly extricates himself from the racial involvement, putting the blame on the government as the cause of terrorism in the territories under terrorist control, trying to defend the situation of the Tamils in those areas. A plea made not so much for the Sri Lanka public, but for the larger and powerful International Community, to come to the help of he Civil Tamil population, which would indirectly help save the terrorists. It is a well woven fabric to entice the International Community, stilted to hide their intense racial hatred of the Sinhala Community.

He praises the Army Commander, in no uncertain terms, hiding inarticulated hatred towards the Sinhala man who expressed the truth of the situation as he sees it as a man fighting to deliver the country from the clutches of a ruthless bunch of terrorists. The Government and the Government Forces are carrying out a duty they owe to its people – no matter whether they are of the majority or the minority. None who had runaway from the country need give lessons to the Government or the Army Commander as to what they should do and what they should say.

He deftly portrays himself as a democrat, perhaps having changed his views about the Sri Lankan politics after reading the excellent Editorial of the Uthayam- "Sri Lanka: Can the Tamil Tigers Save the Tamils ? " , and several other articles by Noel Nadesan, Thomas Jhonpulle, and Selva Gnanam.

But yet the wound within has not healed, and he writes wearing his democratic mask, "….If democracy really matters, Lt General Sarath Fonseka should be asked to account for his statement to The National Post or he himself should offer to resign. Neither he nor President Mahinda Rajapaksa can stay silent on an issue that has been expressed clearly as a matter of great concern ".

Of course, he wants the pound of flesh, and expects the Army Commander to resign, and says in a farewell message "…It would be too sad to lose such a good officer more so at a time he is so much wanted in his service gear but the larger interests of the country demands acceptance that his interview to the Canadian media was unfortunate ".

Two brilliant articles appeared one by the well respected journalist H.L.D.Mahindapala, in the clear lucid manner in which he only could write, in the Sri Lanka Guardian website, and the other by Raj Gonsalkorala, in his beautifully phrased English, in the Asia Tribune website, which Sithanandan sets aside with his "un racial" remark, "…..What is unfortunate with most reactions is their racist character with some of those taking sides being strong on Sinhala racism; they are positively anti-minority Tamils and therefore anti-Sri Lanka too". It is he himself who decides on the racist and anti-racist character of the articles, and his own independent non-racial point of view.

He writes that the Army Commander's interview to the Canadian journalist has generated enough heat in the country and among the Sri Lankan Diaspora overseas. And he waters down the excessive rabid racism of the writers from the Tamil diaspora, some of who did not hesitate to compare a Sinhala to a Hitler arising from the debris of World War II, or yet another refers to a hooked and blinkered Sinhala racist.

One can of course ask, if the Army Commander says that Sri Lanka belongs to Sinhala, what he is doing in Jaffna, where there are no Sinhala ? But terrorism of Prabhakaran is to break away a part of Sri Lanka to form a Tamil Eelaam, closer to DMK in India.

However, Mr. Sithanandan says, "…… The Tamil community has been devastated by the LTTE for over three decades and this contraption has rid them of all the moderates and even created a group of monkey dancers to perform the Tiger waltz, the TNA group of shameless Members of Parliament. How will the Tamil and Sinhala Diaspora know the pains and agonies and woes of the Tamils in Sri Lanka especially now in Wanni? Championing the racist cause in Sri Lanka is part of the irresponsible recreation of the Sri Lankan racists – Tamils and Sinhalese - in their new homelands", trying to blow away any misconception that Sithanandan is a racist.

Then why does he make a mountain, out of a mole hill, demanding that the Good Army Commander should withdraw what he said, or resign. If the Army Commander and his army is to withdraw from Jaffna, can the government, and the Tamil people who do not want a decapitated Sri Lanka, depend on the people in Jaffna to chase away the terrorists, with axes, knives, broomsticks, and what not ?

If the Army Commander and his Armed Forces are not their to fighting the terrorists, the poor civilians will continue to suffer, and that suffering will continue for ages even after setting up a break away Tamil Eelam. Is that what Mr.Sithanandan want ?

The Army Commander cannot deny his Sinhalaness because he is wearing the uniform of a Army Commander? If he cannot deny his Sinhalaness, he cannot deny that it is his duty belonging to the Majority Community to fight terrorism to make Sri Lanka a safe place for the Sinhala majority as well as the Minority Tamils and Muslims who are, nevertheless, his people.

That is why the Army Commander Lt.Gl. Sarath Fonseka continues his fight against the terrorist, so that you and I and our children could live in our motherland in peace and harmony.

We salute a Great Hero our Nation was blessed to have -the Late Gen. Janaka Perera

Monday, October 6, 2008

by Charles.S.Perera

(October 06, Colombo, Sri Lanka Guardian) We extend our deepest sympathies to the members of the Family of the Late General Janaka Perera, and the families of all those perons who were the victims of terrorism.

It is sad and most regrettable that the General Janaka Perera had been another victim of the terrorists. All functions of what ever nature or what ever numbers of persons present should be carefully verified before the arrival of the VIPs. At the present moment it would be wise to stop gatherings of this nature with the VIPs, as the desperate terrorists will go to any extent to cause damage to the Nation. General Janaka Perera, was a National Hero the Nation was proud of, it is a great loss we will live to regret.

The persons in-charge of security should be "doubly" vigilant. To have those special metal checking instruments to pass around the bodies of all persons entering in to the premises. And there should be one entrance to such functions all other entrances being closed, and placed under vigilance of a Security personnel.

If the police questions all the persons that had been present at the function they may be able to identify the black tiger terrorist who was the "bomb". - Sri Lanka Guardian
